Toward the end of our tour of the Tamarindo Estuary, our guide saw some movement in the trees up ahead. (The guy had awesome eyes!) It was monkeys! He turned the boat around and found a spot for us to go ashore. We then hiked up through the mud, crabs, and bugs until we came across a female Howler Monkey. It was a cool scene, but that wasn’t it. They travel in groups! The guide had us hike through the brush a bit further, and before we knew it we were surrounded! They were all around us, almost as curious as we were. A couple of them had babies too. The males made this incredible sound. We got several videos and many great shots out of the experience… a once in a lifetime event! It was awesome!!!

Those monkeys upset my dog! She heard that noise and came running in to see what all the racket was about!
Were you scared of those monkeys? Way different then seeing them in a zoo!
Love,
Mom
